FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Fort Smith Police have released the name of the man who died in an accident involving a stolen motorcycle and an SUV Tuesday (Mar. 5) night.

According to police, Dalton Quick, 20, was hit by an SUV while riding a motorcycle near Leigh Avenue and Phoenix Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Police did confirm that the motorcycle was reported stolen.

A Jeep was driving east after just leaving a restaurant. The driver of the Jeep turned left and collided with a westbound motorcycle.

The driver of the Jeep told police he did not see Quick until it was too late, according to Aric Mitchell, public information officer with the Fort Smith Police Department.

Quick was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not say whether he was wearing a helmet.

Alcohol is not considered a factor at this point.

"The driver of the Jeep seems to be shaken up. No physical injuries. It didn't seem like there was any impairment there, but obviously, this is still an evolving situation," Mitchell told 5NEWS.

The name of the Jeep driver has not been released.
