CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) — Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to a reported riot at the Crawford County Detention Center Friday (March 8) night.
Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown says 39 inmates were involved in the riot, and one person was removed from the situation. Brown says that almost every inmate was involved in the riot.
Inmates were forced outside after12 pods were flooded, according to Brown.
"Our only hang up was the sprinkler...the sprinkler system sucks," Brown said.
The riot cost at least $15,000 in damage. No officers or inmates are reported injured at this time.
The Van Buren Police Department, K9 unit, Arkansas Highway Police, Arkansas State Police, Kibler Police Department and Mountainburg Police were called to assist.
