Press Box At Northwest Park In Rogers Engulfed By Fire

ROGERS, Ark. (KFSM) — The Rogers Fire Department is on the scene of a building fire at North 12th Street at the Northwest Park.

A press box at the park outside a baseball field was found engulfed by the fire.

No injuries were reported from the scene.

Crews from the Rogers Parks and Recreation Departmetn decided to tear the burnt press box down becasue the structure wasn't stable, and they don't want anyone walking up in it.

Rogers Fire Chief Tom Jenkins told 5NEWS they are investigating the fire as being suspcious. He says there were some conflicting reports from witnesses as to when the fire actually was first discovered.

“Do to the pretty simple construction of the press box, it didn’t take it long to become well involved in fire. That is an area where there is some limited mobility for fire trucks to get close. Luckily they were able to park within a reasonable distance and put it out without any injury to anybody involved.”

Northwest park is on the list for a complete renovation and udpates following the approval of a 2018 bond issue in the city. The press box will not rebuilt until then.
