WALDENBERG, Ark. (AP) — State health officials are warning northeast Arkansans of another possible hepatitis exposure after an employee at a gas station market there tested positive for the virus.
Officials with the Arkansas Department of Health said Friday that an employee of Jordan’s Kwik Stop in Waldenberg tested positive for hepatitis A. They warned anyone who ate or drank there between March 14 and March 29 to immediately seek vaccination.
Northeast Arkansas has been battling a hepatitis outbreak.
The department will have free vaccine clinics on Monday in Harrisburg, Marked Tree, Trumann and Waldenberg.
Health officials say that since February 2018, 317 cases of the disease have been reported, including three deaths.
Hepatitis A is a contagious and potentially fatal but treatable liver disease. Symptoms include fever, nausea, fatigue, and jaundice.
