FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFSM) — A "community incident" initiated a lockdown at Sunnymede Elementary School in Fort Smith on Thursday (April 11), according to Zena Featherston Marshal with Fort Smith Public Schools.
Undercover SWAT team members served a warrant at two homes Thursday, one near the school, putting Sunnymede Elementary on a precautionary lockdown.
The lockdown only lasted 15 minutes, Zena said.
Fort Smith Police made nine arrests at two locations in the area of North O Street, according to a Facebook post by the Fort Smith Police Department. Charges are not finalized but will be drug-related.
