SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — Springdale Police say the suspect in a deadly shooting at a local restaurant has been arrested in Indiana.

Sgt. Jeff Taylor, spokesman for the Springdale Police, said Franklin Soto-Ramos, 21, of Lowell was taken into custody about 2:15 p.m. just outside of Indianapolis.

Taylor said officers were flagged down at 3:01 a.m. Saturday at the Kum & Go convenience store next to McDonald's on East Robinson Avenue and were told a shooting had just taken place at the restaurant.

Officers found two males with gunshot wounds on the east side of the building in the parking lot and began rendering medical aid. One of the men was dead, and the other was taken to the hospital with what Taylor called "life-threatening injuries." The victims were identified as Carlos Alexander Ascencio, 18, who died; and Juan Carlos Bahena-Garcia, 20, who was injured. Both were from Springdale.

Taylor said witnesses told police that the suspect or suspects fled in a white passenger car that had several people in it. Through witness statements, Springdale Police were able to figure out a suspect in the shooting, he said. An arrest warrant was issued for capital murder and attempted capital murder.

Police discovered that Soto-Ramos was head toward Indianapolis. With the help of the Illinois State Police, Indiana State Police, Terra Haute (Indiana) Police and the Indianapolis Police, Soto-Ramos was taken into custody, Taylor said. He was alone and was found driving a 2007 black Chevrolet Impala.

Soto-Ramos was booked into the Washington County jail on (July 12). He was being held without bond. He's due back in court on Aug. 19.

The investigation is continuing, and more arrests may be made, Taylor said.
