BENTONVILLE, Ark (KFSM) — The second medical marijuana dispensary in Northwest Arkansas opens today (Aug. 15).
The first, Releaf Center, opened last week. The pair are located in Bentonville.
The Source opened its doors to customers at 8 a.m.
The Source underwent two Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) inspections. According to the owner, the store failed the first one due to issues with software vendor.
Between the first failed inspection and opening day, The Source had a name change. It was previously known as AMS Patient Center.
Erik Danielson, the owner, said he has worked toward this day for nearly three years.
"Everybody needs it for something different so it’s definitely a blessing having it here now," said customer Joe Cabrera.
When the ReLeaf Center opened hundreds of people lined up for its soft opening, but The Source didn't see those crowds.
“I was like there’s probably going to be a line wrapped around the building even though it’s 8’o’clock in the morning. Then when I pulled in the parking lot I saw there was only like three people and I’m very shocked. I’m not sure why," said customer Brenna Hawkins.
According to people who have shopped at both stores, the selections are similar but the prices at The Source are a lot lower. But patients are happy to have options now.
“I thinks it’s great. It gives us options as patients and, you know, each person has their own preference on which one they like better," said Hawkins.
The owner says the location is ideal for customers
"It’s in the heart of Bentonville, which is booming right now. We really like this location. If you asked us to put a pin on the map of what would be the best location in the state, we think we have it," said Danielson.
The store is located at 404 Razorback Drive in Bentonville.
Customers must have a state-issued, registered patient or caregiver medical marijuana card and government-issued ID in order to legally purchase medical marijuana.
