FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFSM) — One River Valley bar is cleaning up after a hit-and-run left a huge hole in the side of the building.

The owner of Roosters On The Avenue in Fort Smith says just after 7 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) a couple who had just left the bar rammed their Jeep into the west side wall.

"Shock as you can imagine. There was debris, brick and all the chairs were knocked over, so it was pretty dramatic," said bar owner Ron Atchison.

Roosters was able to capture the incident on video surveillance and a witness was able to identify the two people in the video as the two the owner saw leaving the bar.

"We had a few people were in, no one was injured which was very fortunate for us," Atchison said.

Atchison says they closed the bar immediately after the incident.

"It came through the wall all the way across the bar and actually had debris behind the bar which is about 15 to 20 feet," Atchison said.

With hundreds of bricks and debris scattered across the bar, Atchison says he's grateful for all the folks who came out and helped get it cleaned up.

"We had a great group of volunteers from SADA which is Students Against Drugs and Alcohol. They came in and cleaned it all up and helped us out a lot last night," Atchison said.

Roosters was able to open back up at 3 p.m. Monday (Aug. 19) and repiars will begin as early as Tuesday (Aug. 20) morning.

As of right now, the hole has been patched up but no arrests have been made. Police have identified the suspects and are advising surrounding agencies to be on the lookout for them.

The names of the suspects have not been released at this time.
