Pryor School Bus Rollover Sends Football Team To Hospital

MAYES COUNTY, Okla. (KOTV) – Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other first responders were called to the scene of a school bus rollover wreck in Mayes County on...

The wreck took place southeast of Adair on County Road 420 just east of County Road North 437, according to OHP. The school bus belonged to Pryor Schools.

According to OHP, a 2020 International school bus driven by Robert Nunez, 28, of Pryor left the roadway on the right, overcorrected, re-entered then left the roadway again, entered into a broad slide and did a 3/4 roll, coming to rest on the driver's side.

Nunez was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released. Also treated and released were two 14-year-olds, two 15-year-olds and a 13-year-old. Three 14-year-olds refused treatment at the scene.

Pryor Schools' superintendent said the school bus was on a narrow road when the tire clipped the side of the road, making the bus tip over. The superintendent said the bus was filled with 8th-grade football players and coaches.
