CHESTER, Ark. (KFSM) — Heavy rainfall caused flooding in parts of Crawford county.
A family in Chester says for the first time in nearly 4 decades their home flooded.
“I just cried. It was nothing I could do and look at it now," Juanita Gibbs, the homeowner said.
The family believes nearly 4 feet of water got into the home.
Gibbs’ daughter blames Crawford County for putting a bandaid on the problem after flash flooding during the summer.
“Mothers house flooded because they didn’t get this done and the people that live down this road were too worried about having to drive around," Selina Rosen said.
While the family works to clean out the mess and salvage whatever they can Gibbs says she and her husband built the home together and she’s not going anywhere.
He says people have to be notified about the project so they can find alternate routes.
It's a process that could take several more weeks.
