POTEAU, Okla. (KFSM) — The Leflore County 911 call center was hit by lightning when storms rolled through Sunday (Oct. 6).
Lightning struck a generator at the center, causing an outage. The center is located on South Broadway in Poteau.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said the landlines were back up by about 4 a.m. Monday (Oct. 7), but the 911 system was still down. He said it could be Tuesday before the system is back up.
Anyone dialing 911 in LeFlore County will have their call rerouted to the Sequoyah County 911 for assistance. They will then transfer the call to LeFlore County.
