PHOENIX, Ariz. (CNN) — A car accident potentially saved the lives of a couple and their baby while crossing the street, and it was all caught on video.

The accident happened in Phoenix at 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road, according to our CNN affiliate KNXV. A couple was pushing a stroller across the street as cars were turning in front of them. The family had the right of way. However, as the third car made the turn, a Jeep Renegade ran the red light and headed straight for the couple and the stroller.

The pedestrians missed being hit when a black Chevrolet Cruz struck the Jeep that was running the red light.

The family escaped unharmed, and the car’s driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the Jeep, 23-year-old Ernesto Oveso, was under the influence and was combative with witnesses after he tried to take off and they went after him.

“He told them to get away and actually pulled out a knife and stabbed at the driver through the window,” said Sgt. Tommy Thompsons of the Phoenix Police Department.

He was arrested and has not yet entered a plea on charges of driving under the influence, aggravated assault and prohibited possession after a gun was found in the Jeep. Police say he had at least four different warrants out for his arrest.
