VAN BUREN, Ark. (KFSM) — Arkansas State Police were involved in a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in Van Buren.

According to several eyewitnesses, about five to 10 ASP vehicles were seen chasing a white car, possibly a Mercedes, down Alma Boulevard in Van Buren.

One eyewitness says the chase ended in a crash on 1705 Elm Street.

Bill Sadler with ASP says just after 1 p.m. Monday (Nov. 18) a trooper spotted the car that was reported stolen exiting I-540.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and continued driving into the area near 17th and Elm Street where it crashed into a culvert, Sadler said.

Three people were taken into custody without incident and are at the Crawford County Detention Center waiting on charges related to both the pursuit and theft.

The suspect's names have not been released at this time.
