Man Arrested After Stabbing Woman Following Argument In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFSM) — A man has been arrested after stabbing a woman in the lower back in Fayetteville. Officers say the two got into an argument following the stabbing.

Officers were dispatched to 745 E. Joyce in Fayetteville Wednesday (Jan 15.) night about a stabbing.

The victim told police David Strode, 47, had stabbed her and ran away.

While officers were setting a perimeter for a crime scene, Strode walked up to officers to turn himself in. He was taken into custody without incident.

Once in custody, Strode stated he was walking with the victim on Joyce when they got into a verbal argument. The argument continued and the stabbing victim slapped Strode in the face with an open hand.

Strode was cleaning his fingers with his knife at the time.

In return to being slapped, Strode stabbed the woman in the lower back, and ran from the scene.

He told officers he threw the knife off a bridge just to the south of Walmart North.

Strode willingly took officers to the location to look for the knife. They were unsuccessful in locating the weapon.

The victim was taken to the Washington Regional Medical Center, where medical staff advised her injuries were not severe or life-threatening.

Strode was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was released to jail deputies.
