5NEWS This Morning welcomes Jo Ellison to the team!

Jo Ellison has been promoted to co-anchor of 5NEWS This Morning!

ARKANSAS, USA — 5NEWS reporter and anchor Jo Ellison has been promoted to co-anchor of 5NEWS This Morning, the most watched local morning show in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.

Jo Ellison came to 5NEWS in 2015 and has more than 20 years of experience working in the Fayetteville – Fort Smith TV news market. Jo is no stranger to the Northwest Arkansas and River Valley area, she was born in Fort Smith.

"There is no one who knows this market quite like Jo Ellison. Her ability to tell stories with compassion and empathy is unmatched," said News Director Morgan Schaab. "Jo will add veteran leadership to our weekday morning news coverage. Since starting at 5NEWS, Jo has covered a variety of stories across our area, and now she’ll bring that experience, loyalty and knowledge to 5NEWS This Morning."

"This is home. I was born and raised here and now I'm raising my family here. As a parent, I know how important it is to start your day with information that will make your day easier, keep your family safe and that keep us connected to our community. 5NEWS This Morning does that and I'm excited to be a part of it,” Ellison said. “I look forward to continuing representing the Native American community on air, which is an important part of my heritage and the communities we serve."

Starting September 20, Jo Ellison will co-anchor 5NEWS This Morning Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. alongside Ruben Diaz, Meteorologist Zac Scott and reporter Tiffany Lee.
