Bento box dining concept in Bentonville features Michelin star chefs

Bentoville's co-founder, Phil Libin, hopes the dining concept brings world-class food to Northwest Arkansas.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — A to-go bento box dining concept in Bentonville features Michelin-starred chefs who prepare the Japanese take out meals daily for locals to pick up from Onyx Coffee Lab in downtown Bentonville.

According to Bentoville's website, it is a "dining concept that combines Japan’s culinary art with fresh local ingredients from Northwest Arkansas."

The bento boxes are crafted by Michelin-starred chefs, Chef Shinichiro Takagi and Chef Billy Kong.

Takagi earned two Michelin stars from his family restaurant, Zeniya, and was named one of the world's top restaurants by LA LISTE. Kong, who is trained in San Francisco, Kanazawa, and Kyoto, earned his star from his restaurant Kinjo.

Bentoville's co-founder, Phil Libin, hopes Bentoville brings world-class dining to Northwest Arkansas.

"There's a lot of good restaurants here but not enough," Libin said. "So we're trying to do something really world-class—not pretty good for Arkansas, not almost as good as what's in Austin, but really the best in the world."

The chefs offer three bento boxes now available to order online daily: Sushi Box ($45), Beef Katsu Box ($35), and Monk's Box ($30). Limited quantities are available for pickup Monday through Saturday between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Bentoville also hosts pop-up experiences that are available by reservation.

They will host a Christmas Kaiseki pop-up experience that will be up from Dec. 7-10, where Takagi and Kong will partner to "ring in the holiday with a magnificent multi-course dinner," the website says.

Seating will be limited for the four-night event and part of the proceeds will benefit NorthWest Arkansas Community College.
