FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sunday was the start of the tastiest time of the year as Meiji, a Japanese restaurant, celebrated the second annual Fayetteville Restaurant Week accordingly.
Every year to start it off they have a special food for one day only, and hundreds of people come out to try it.
"One time of the year for Fayetteville Restaurant Week, we do a dim sum. So Chinese dim sum, dumplings, that sort of thing." Said Owner Darwin Beyer.
The owner of the restaurant said this week helps the city celebrate different cultures with diverse food.
"It keeps everything going, especially if it's local. It's a little bit of ourselves honestly. Whoever the chef is ... whatever ethnicity they are ... it brings more to the community " Beyer added.
Fayetteville is known for its diverse culinary scene, but it's the people from different backgrounds and the style of food on the hill that makes this restaurant week so unique.
"[We try to] focus where the heartbeat of the city is. The locals, the moms and pops, [and] invest time into them, [to] build up our whole community." Said Beyer.
Meiji is just one of 79 restaurants in the city participating in Fayetteville Restaurant Week.
