In the past year, a new indoor adventure craze has popped up all across Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.

The 5NEWS Adventure crew tried to solve the "clues where you live" to save London in the Fort Smith Escape Room.

The 5NEWS Mystery Gang of Jay Plyburn, reporter Jo Ellison, photographer Brett Roberts and meteorologist Sean Bailey was ready to save the world.

With the help of clues left behind by Sherlock Holmes, they had one hour to escape or else it was lights out for London.

Monica Baber owns and operates the Fort Smith escape room.

"You are looking for a code that's similar to the pass code, and it's scattered throughout the room," Baber said, explaining the rules. "So you will have lines of clues taking you to each one of those four or five of those numbers. And then as I leave, I turn the clock on and you have 60 minutes."

The countdown was on and all of the crew members were scouring the room until they found enough clues to lead to a key.

"We found one key and now we gotta find out where it goes to help us find another code to help us escape," Bailey said.

After trying the key everywhere, a light bulb went off and they struck clue gold.

"We found one of the tokens," Plyburn said in a dramatic English accent. "We are still looking for three more. We have 35 minutes and 40 seconds -- plenty of time."

The clock continued to count down as they turned Holmes' apartment upside down.

With the help of a couple clues from Mr. Holmes himself, it got down to the wire before the crew found their final token and entered the passcode in correct order.

With less than a minute to spare, Team 5NEWS saved London in just the nick of time.

Baber said their success all came from team work.

"It's fun just to interact, and everyone has their own set of skills," Baber said. "You may have one that finds a key hidden somewhere, somebody that solves a riddle, you just don't know who can do what, so it's a good team building exercise."

It's something first timer Ridge Hickey said his group, Hodge Podge, used to solve the room.

"You should use team work because if you work together, it's easier to find out different things," Hickey said. "But if you're not working together, it's harder to ins things and more chaotic."

After successfully solving Sherlock's room, check out the archaeological mystery room, The Dig, which is coming soon!

That closes the case on this week's Adventure Arkansas.

To book your own adventure, head to the Fort Smith Escape Room website.

The cost of the adventure is $20 per person, with group rates at $15 each for five or more mystery solvers. Baber said there is also space to create more adventure rooms too.
