FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Jo, Tiffany, and Zac visited the Arkansas Air and Military Museum at Drake Field to learn about the deep history of Arkansas aviation, both in and out of wartime.
Zac learned about Field Kinley, one of the state's first airmen, and Arkansas' first ace, gaining twelve confirmed kills in World War 1, and Jo saw a jacket and compass owned by Pierce McKennon, an Arkansan known for pinning a Razorback on his plane in World War 2.
The "Flying Razorbacks" were founded by local legend Max "Red" Hall, a helicopter pilot who brought a painted Razorback with him on every flight after he survived a crash in the jungles of Vietnam.
The non-profit museum also hosts an entire warehouse, with several planes from across state history!
