Family-owned business provides Arkansans with Grandma's goodies for 4 generations

They offer all the candy you could want: chocolates, toffee, bark, fudge, truffles, turtles, brittle, gummy bears, hard candy, taffy, and more.

VAN BUREN, Ark. — For four generations, the Greer family has owned and operated the beloved Arkansas candy store Kopper-Kettle Candies.

Staying true to their slogan — “Handmade in the Ozarks since 1925” — some of the copper kettles they use to this day are the ones that the current owner's grandparents used. You can tell the difference by the handles the smaller handles are the ones his grandparents used.

"We use copper kettles because copper conducts heat better than stainless steel," Thomas Greer, the current owner, said.

Today, the shop is still going strong with two locations — one in Van Buren and another in Fort Smith.

They offer all the candy you could want: chocolates, toffee, bark, fudge, truffles, turtles, brittle, gummy bears, hard candy, taffy, and even a sugar-free assortment.

The shops are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed on Sundays. There is also an online shop for any of your sweet treat needs.

Kopper Kettle Candies has a sweet in-store deal. If you buy a box of candies in a specialty box and you eat all the chocolate, you can return the box and refill it.

On the latest episode of Around the Corner, Tiffany and Jo got to see how the chocolate gets made.

Thomas showed them the ropes. Like the quick learners they are, they helped make turtles. First, they sent the caramel bites through a conveyor belt of chocolate and finished it off with some salt, making salted caramel.
