Linam Family Farm kicking summer off with first-ever blackberry harvest

For those looking to get their blackberry fix, you can grab some berries through the farm's porch pick-up at 7111 Highway 71.

ALMA, Ark. — The Linam Family Farm in Alma is kicking off summer 2024 with its first-ever blackberry harvest.

Chris and Tiffany Linam first purchased their land, which is perfectly located between Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, in 2021.

Although they are harvesting blackberries for the first time this year, the Linams said they weren't planning on going into the berry business.

However, with the Arnold Family Farm and its strawberry fields across the road, the farm's owner Randy Arnold encouraged the Linams to give blackberry production a try.

After researching and working with the University of Arkansas Agriculture Research and Extension, which is well known for its fruit breeding program and its blackberries, the Linams decided to take a gamble on the sweet fruit.

Now, their new farm has state-of-the-art technology, helping them make some of the best blackberries that you'll find in our area.

At Linam Family Farms, they have three different kinds of blackberries: Sweet-Ark Ponca, Sweet-Ark Caddo, Natchez, and Ouachita. The Linams say some of the berry varieties are seedless, which is not commonly associated with blackberries.

For those looking to get their blackberry fix, you can do a porch pick-up at the farm at 7111 Highway 71.

Pick-up hours:

  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Blackberries are $10/quart and $30/gallon.

Although the public is not able to pick the berries themselves just yet, the Linams will provide updates on when they will be ready for visitors on their Facebook page.
