McGarrah Farms celebrates 200 years of farming in Arkansas | Around the Corner

This year's maze theme celebrates the family's 200 years of farming.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Just in time for cooler temperatures and changing leaves, the Fall Festival at McGarrah Farms Rivercrest Orchard is now underway. The 5NEWS morning crew got into the fall spirit at the farm on this episode of Around the Corner

Owners and operators Dennis and Timothea McGarrah like to keep the countless activities at the farm fresh by adding more attractions to the farm each year. This year, Dennis added a train that wraps around the entire corn maze, which is nearly 6 acres.

Additionally, they have a theme for their maze each year and this year's theme celebrates 200 years of farming.

The McGarrah Heritage theme shows that farming is a rich family tradition. The passion for farming has been passed down for generations. In fact, the McGarrah Farms have been serving Northwest Arkansas since 1824 when their family became the first European settlers in this part of the state.

"If you asked 5-year-old me what I wanted to do, I would have told you I was going to be a farmer," Dennis said. "Here we are, 40 years later."

After giving Jo and Zac a little information about how he grew up, he sent them on their way to the corn maze. Dennis suggested Jo lead the way.

Sure enough, Jo made it out but lost Zac along the way. She eventually found him, but he was a little winded!

After Zac cooled down, the duo tried a couple of the fun games McGarrah Farms has to offer.

Fun little fact from Around the Corner producer Will Maxwell:

"Jo made two shots into the 100 points of Skee Ball, but there is no proof because I was not recording. Sorry, Jo."

On top of the games and several photo opportunities (that were taken advantage of by Zac and Jo), the main attraction of the Fall Festival at McGarrah Farms is the pumpkin patch!
