Get into spooky season at the Nightmare on Block Street, where a Fayetteville bar goes all-in for Halloween

It's hard to find a business that goes all in on a theme like Pinpoint.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Across Northwest Arkansas, there are plenty of family-friendly activities for kids of all ages during the Halloween and fall seasons, but what about a spot that's more focused on adults immersing themselves in the spooky spirit?

Luckily, there's a bar in downtown Fayetteville that goes all in on Halloween (and it has pinball machines!) On this week's Around the Corner, a show where the 5NEWS morning crew highlights things to do in our area that you may not know about, we're on Block Street at Pinpoint.

The entrance into the bar involves walking down some stairs right off of the sidewalk downtown. Pinpoint opened back in 2018 and it's gone viral because of their holiday themes. And once you step foot inside, you'll understand why. Once you go down those stairs in the month of October, you're in Halloween.

It's hard to find a business that goes all in on a theme like Pinpoint.

Bo Counts, the bar's owner, says he grew up before the usual practice of walking into a Spirit Halloween or Home Depot to get spooky stuff, he had to get creative and build handmade decorations to get into the Halloween spirit.

"Doing that my whole life, and then in college I started doing Halloween parties," Counts said. "Now, I'm a grown-up, I have a bar. Why not just keep going?"

Everywhere you sit in Pinpoint, known during October as the Nightmare on Block Street, has a theme: whether it's Scooby Doo, Harry Potter, the Mummy, the Addams Family, the Exorcist... but on Friday the 13th, the only spot to sit is the Jason section.

Between the specialty cocktails and fun arcade games like pinball and skeeball, there's no way you're leaving Nightmare on Block Street without getting into the spooky season.

And if you're more of a merry type, Pinpoint closes for a few days after Halloween and then they turn the place into the North Pole. It's adorable.
