ALTUS, Ark. — In the Wine Capital of Arkansas, organizers are gearing up for the annual Altus Grape Fest.
The festival will take place in the Altus City Park at 109 W Park St. on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27.
From live music to the iconic grape stomp, there's something fun for everybody to enjoy. The festivities will kick off with the Chilwell Kemp Band on Friday at 5 p.m. For a full schedule of the weekend, click here.
Ahead of the festival, the 5NEWS morning crew learned how to make wine — the Altus way — on this episode of Around the Corner.
The crew visited Dahlem Vineyard where James Dahlem has been growing fresh grapes for the region for over 20 years. Dahlem taught the crew the best way to pick the freshest grapes.
To see how the grapes are eventually turned to wine, the crew made a stop at Post Winery. The experts explained how the wine is made and demonstrated how it is bottled and prepared to be sold on shelves.
Finally, the crew's last stop was a wine-tasting tour at Mount Bethel Winery.
