WASHINGTON — One woman's story of survival, courage and advocacy is getting us uplifted.
After months of unexplained symptoms and a misdiagnosis of lupus, Hope Law, a single Maryland mother of three, is now a two-year survivor of a rare form of cancer called adrenal cortical cancer, or ACC. This form of cancer is so rare that it only affects about one in a million people per year in the U.S.
Because of how rare ACC is, the funding for research is very low. But instead of being discouraged, Law decided to fight. She is now a fierce advocate for research and awareness of ACC. Her goal is to ensure that adrenal cancer research becomes a priority.
Law launched the nonprofit Adrenal Cure Collective, which is asking one million people to give just $1 with the hope of raising $1 million to fund life saving research.
If you want to get more involved, Adrenal Cure Collective also has some events coming up in the D.C. area. The 2024 ACC Warrior Weekend will be held the weekend of Oct. 31, with a gala for survivors and people fighting ACC and their friends and families, an ACC patient panel for people to share their stories, and the “Adrenaline Rush 5K Race” to raise money for research and awareness.
