Fort Smith Mayor George McGill to host 4th of July celebration at Harry E. Kelley Park

The event promises giveaways, food trucks, live entertainment, and "the largest fireworks display in the region."

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Fort Smith Mayor George McGill is set to host a family-friendly free 4th of July celebration for the town's residents.

The event, promising giveaways, food trucks, live entertainment, and "the largest fireworks display in the region," will open at 5 p.m., with fireworks beginning at 9:30.

Harry E. Kelley Park, near Fort Smith's riverfront, will host the celebration.

The mayor's office provided the following schedule for the event:

  • 4:00 p.m.- Streets around the park begin to close.
  • 5:00 p.m. - Gates Open
    • FREE transportation begins along Garrison and Rogers Avenues, and North A and B Streets. 
  • 6:00 p.m. -  Mayor’s Welcome & the River Valley Community Band
  • 7:00 p.m. - Live Music with Back N Time
  • 7:30 p.m. - Live Music with Mr. Cabbagehead and Larry B
  • 9:30 p.m. - Fireworks with patriotic music by the Rivery Valley Community Band
  • 10:00 p.m. - Event Ends
