Centerton man reels in 46-pound striper at Beaver Lake

While temperatures have plummeted, that hasn't stopped fishermen from trying to reel in big ones at Beaver Lake.

ROGERS, Ark. — A Centerton man reeled in a 46-pound striper while at Beaver Lake earlier this week.

According to a Jan. 11 Facebook post from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC), the fish was caught in the Hickory Creek area of Beaver Lake by Rick Stone while fishing with guide Jon Conklin.

"The striper measured 46 inches long with a girth of almost 30 inches. The estimated weight was 46 pounds," the post said.

The AGFC says that Stone was using brood minnows as bait, which helped attract the big fish.

"Conklin says in his fishing report this week from Beaver Lake that stripers are on the move chasing baitfish. There may be one like this waiting for you," the post said.
