Free Fishing Weekend in Arkansas is coming up | What to know

The annual event, which falls every June, allows residents and non-residents alike to fish without a license or trout stamp for the allotted period.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas State Parks are gearing up for Free Fishing Weekend.

The event begins at noon on Friday, June 7, and lasts until the evening of Sunday, June 9.

The special weekend is made possible by a proclamation by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and is sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, according to a release from Arkansas State Parks.

"Our state parks provide access to 18 rivers and 25 lakes, offering abundant opportunities for all anglers. Whether casting for bass or trolling for stripers, you'll find exciting fishing adventures in our parks. Full-service marinas and boat docks are available, offering boat rentals, fishing supplies, fuel, and more for your convenience," the release said.

The annual event, which falls every June, allows residents and non-residents alike to fish without a license or trout stamp for the allotted period.

Arkansas State Parks notes that daily limits and fishing regulations are still enforced.

"Arkansas Free Fishing Weekend is a fantastic opportunity for families, friends, and nature enthusiasts to reconnect with the great outdoors and experience the thrill of fishing in The Natural State," Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Secretary Shea Lewis said.

"Whether casting a line from the shore of a tranquil lake or wading through a babbling stream, Arkansas offers endless possibilities for unforgettable fishing adventures," Lewis added.
