State park in Rogers hosting free beginning nature photography program

Nature photographer Tim Johnson will be leading program participants through the basics of photographing wildlife and landscapes, according to a release.

ROGERS, Ark. — Hobbs State Park in Rogers is hosting a free program for beginning nature photography on May 5.

The program will be held at 2 p.m. at the park's visitor center.

Nature photographer Tim Johnson will be leading program participants through the basics of photographing wildlife and landscapes, according to a release from the park.

"The hints you learn in this free class will allow you to be more successful in your new photo journey," the release said.

Johnson, with the Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas, will guide participants through photographing wildflowers, bugs, birds, and everything else that nature has to offer.

"Johnson has led many nature photo walks in the local area, including winter eagle cruises at Hobbs State Park, and outings to area nature hotspots. Tim recently traveled to Alaska to photograph landscapes and wildlife in remote backcountry areas of Wrangell-St Elias National Park," the release said.

The park says that weather permitting, participants will go outside for hands-on learning. The program is recommended for ages 16 and older and that reservations are not necessary.

Participants should take their current camera, the park said.

For more information, contact the park’s visitor center at 479-789-5000.
