FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A resort-style pool, fitness room, pickleball, and bocce ball courts are among the amenities planned for an off-campus student housing project in Fayetteville called Axis.
The 246-unit, 658-bed project near Wedington and Futrall drives, designed by Chasen Garrett Architects of Barling, will cost $60 million-$65 million, said Tim Whitten, owner of the general contractor, Whitten Development of Atkins. Whitten Development formed a partnership, WEBR Investments of Springfield, Missouri, to own Axis, which should be ready in the fall of 2026.
Enrollment growth at the University of Arkansas means a project like Axis “is needed greatly up there,” Whitten said. Units in the Axis will range from studios to four-bedroom apartments.
