Arkansas airports awarded $10.5M in federal grants

The largest grant went to Northwest Arkansas National Airport, which received $3.89 million to reconstruct an air traffic control tower.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded nearly $10.5 million in grants for improvements at airports across Arkansas.

The largest grant went to Northwest Arkansas National Airport, which received $3.89 million to reconstruct an air traffic control tower. Texarkana Regional Airport and Z.M. Jack Stell Field in Crossett each received grants of more than $1 million.

The money is a portion of $636 million awarded in the latest funding round of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. The program awarded 320 grants in 46 states and American Samoa.
