ARKANSAS, USA — An Arkansas Business report states that sales of mixed drinks, liquor and beer in Arkansas rose last year, reflecting two realities: First, as the COVID-19 pandemic has waned, people are continuing to return to restaurants and watering holes to enjoy alcoholic beverages, and second, inflation.
The increase in sales is indicated by the increase in the state’s collection of excise taxes on alcoholic beverages. For example, excise tax collections for mixed drinks rose 20% in 2022, compared with 2021. They were up 42.2% compared with the pre-pandemic year of 2019.
The collections of excise taxes also increased for liquor and beer, though by lower percentages.
