BENTONVILLE, Ark. — With FEMA approval, the City of Bentonville is scheduled for a debris cleanup pass focusing on commercial entities.
The city's removal contractor will pick up debris from the right-of-way of commercial businesses on Tuesday, July 16.
With approval for only one sweep of commercial entities, the city asks residents to place any debris by the curb before pickup day.
Also, "if you receive insurance proceeds for disaster debris removal, such proceeds must be returned to the city and credited to FEMA to prevent duplication of benefits," according to the city.
If residents have commercial debris to be picked up, they are encouraged to call the city at (479) 326-6559 to get on the list.
The city also says that "FEMA did not approve the removal of commercial debris from large commercial areas such as shopping centers, industrial and manufacturing facilities, and other easily identifiable commercial areas. The responsibility for debris removal in these areas remains with the commercial entities themselves, and FEMA will not allow reimbursement for such debris removal."
Churches and nonprofit organizations will need to apply as individual applicants through FEMA, with a deadline of July 29. For more assistance, go to the FEMA website here, call their helpline at (800) 621-3362, or visit their temporary office at NWACC's Shewmaker Center For Workforce Technologies (Room B103) Monday - Saturday.
