ROLAND, Okla. — Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the prices of lumber have doubled or more and local businesses are feeling the effects.
Stephane Pribble, Owner of Pribble Decor, says he’s had to increase the prices of his custom made furniture. He says he still has the support of his community in Roland but continues to face problems.
"I try to be a reasonably priced business but it's hard with the increased prices," Pribble said. "A board of 2x4, the most common wood in home construction, used to cost $3.57 but now it costs $6.57. It’s literally doubled in price."
The prices of houses are also growing due to the lumber increase.
“The average house, you're looking at a 14,000 to 18,000 dollar price increase on a house which is a big difference,” says Donnie Wise, owner of Don Wise Construction.
