Adult, juvenile arrested after shots fired in Fayetteville

Police say that vehicles parked at a nearby apartment complex appear to have been struck by gunfire, but there are no other injuries or suspects at this time.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Police say that an adult and a juvenile have been arrested after multiple calls about shots fired in Fayetteville last night.

The Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) says that at around 11:20 p.m. on March 15, it received multiple calls about shots fired near the area of School and 11th.

As officers arrived in the area, a vehicle was stopped that they believed to be involved in the shooting.

"While interviewing the vehicles two occupants, a juvenile male was found in possession of a firearm, and also had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his legs," said FPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Stephen Mauk.

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was released soon after and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for being a minor in possession of a firearm, according to police.

The vehicle’s adult driver was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and was transported to the Washington County Jail, according to police.

Police say that vehicles parked at a nearby apartment complex appear to have been struck by gunfire, but there are no other injuries or suspects as of right now.

Mauk says that the investigation is still ongoing, and more information may become available.
