Fort Smith police arrest man after he allegedly discharged a firearm in Central Mall parking garage

Police said no one was injured and they quickly identified 22-year-old Zachary Bryant as the suspected shooter.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — A 22-year-old man has been arrested after police say he discharged a firearm in the parking garage portion of Central Mall in Fort Smith. 

According to the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD), officers responded to a shooting call at 5111 Rogers Ave. around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Police said no one was injured and they quickly identified Zachary Bryant of Alma as the suspected shooter. 

FSPD said Bryant was placed under arrest in Crawford County. 

Booking records show Bryant was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Bryant is facing four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. His court date is set for Sept. 29.

The investigation is ongoing. FSPD said more information will be released when it becomes available.
