Two in custody after ASP troopers find 7,000 fentanyl pills during traffic stop on I-40

Arkansas State Police took two people into custody who were reportedly traveling from California to Memphis.

VAN BUREN, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) seized 7,000 fentanyl pills, 18 pints of promethazine, and illegal marijuana during a traffic stop on I-40 in Van Buren on July 31. 

According to ASP, troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2024 white Nissan Altima near Exit 3 around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

After searching the vehicle, troopers took the driver and passenger into custody. The two were reportedly traveling from Riverside, Calif., to Memphis, Tenn.
