Oklahoma Organized Crime Task Force executes one of the largest drug seizures in state's history, reports say

The state's attorney general says the Organized Crime Task Force, which was established in 2023, found the drugs in a metal barn.

OKLAHOMA CITY — According to the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office, the state's Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF), which was established in 2023, seized over 36 tons of illegal marijuana in Wagoner County and Lincoln County on Nov. 9.

“Our state has been overrun with criminals who are trafficking drugs in our local communities and throughout the country,” Attorney General Gentner Drummond said. “I will not tolerate this serious threat to public safety."

The task force agents searched a Wagoner County business on Nov. 9 and reportedly found more than 72,000 pounds of black-market marijuana in a metal barn, making this one of the largest drug seizures in Oklahoma's history.

The illegal marijuana was found in a metal barn at a Wagoner County business.

The task force was assisted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA), the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, Wagoner County Commissioners, and the Wagoner County Emergency Management office in the seizure.

“The collaboration with our law enforcement partners across Oklahoma is vital to the public safety of our communities,” said Robert Melton, assistant special agent in charge for HSI Dallas’ Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle Division. “Operations like these led by the OCTF help curtail the spread of other nefarious activities such as human trafficking and money laundering that often lead to even more dangerous transnational crime.”

Following the discovery, OCTF and OMMA state that they inspected a medical marijuana grow operation in Lincoln County, resulting in the discovery of untagged marijuana in a car on the premises. After obtaining another search warrant, agents allegedly found another 250 pounds of illegal marijuana.
