BOONE COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — A convicted murderer who is wanted for an alleged kidnapping out of Colorado has been arrested in Arkansas.
According to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), investigators were contacted by police in Branson, Missouri, to assist in arresting a fugitive.
Corey Lee Handy was wanted out of Colorado for allegedly holding a woman against her will with a firearm, and Branson police were working to arrest him, according to BCSO.
Handy had a warrant for kidnapping an adult along with another warrant from the Colorado Department of Corrections for parole violation. The fugitive was out on parole after a 2012 conviction for first-degree murder.
On Aug. 21, Branson police located Handy's vehicle in Harrison, Arkansas.
BCSO responded and set up surveillance nearby, the release said. Before a search warrant could be served, Handy left in his vehicle.
Handy was stopped and taken into custody without incident, according to BCSO. He's now awaiting extradition to Colorado.
BCSO said the Branson and Harrison police departments assisted in the investigation and arrest.
