Sheriff: Former Arkansas football coach, wife arrested in Benton County for trying to have sex with minor

Court documents said the couple messaged back and forth with the undercover detective, saying they were "into some very f***** up sick taboos" — among other things.

BENTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), Conway married couple Benjamin Coney and Emily "Grace" Brinley are facing charges of internet stalking of a child and conspiring to commit rape after messaging an undercover detective and arranging to meet up in Benton County to have sex.

Court documents state Coney and Brinley messaged back and forth with the undercover detective, saying, among other things, that they are "into some very f***** up sick taboos."

In the messages, Brinley said that she and Coney were trying to have a child, "so they could have that type of relationship," authorities said.

Documents said although the messages were mostly sent from Coney to the detective, his wife, Brinley, was consulted "about everything," and both the couple's voices could be heard in multiple voice calls.

Documents said that the couple was arrested upon arriving at the meeting location in Benton County on Nov. 28.

During Brinley's interview at the Benton County Sheriff's Office, she reportedly told police she "was not going to do anything ... and just wanted to make [her husband] happy," and that Coney once said he wanted to have a daughter so "he could have sex with her."

Documents state that during Coney's interview, he told officials they would find child sex abuse material on his devices, but that "he did not think he would actually do anything in real life." Coney also reportedly confirmed that his wife "would not have done this without him."

Coney is a former coach with the Arkansas Punishers, a minor league football team based out of Little Rock. In a post on Dec. 1, the Punishers stated that Coney is "no longer associated with our organization."

The couple is being held on a $200,000 bond, according to court documents.
