Fort Smith police search for suspect who injured child in hit-and-run crash

The Fort Smith Police Department provided photos of the vehicle and trailer suspected of a hit-and-run crash that injured a child on Nov. 24.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — A child is severely injured after a hit-and-run crash in Fort Smith on Nov. 24, according to police. Now, a search is underway for the suspect responsible for the crash.  

The Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) responded to the crash at North 37th and North N streets at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.  

Police said they believe the suspect was driving a black truck with dual rear wheels pulling a black dump trailer and headed northbound from the scene of the crash. 

The pedestrian, who is 10 years or younger, was transported to a hospital out of the area for life-threatening injuries, according to FSPD.
