SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A "lengthy drug investigation" led to the arrest of five people in Springdale, according to a preliminary report.
Antwain Jackson, 43, was the focus of the investigation after he was identified as a "multi-pound distributor of methamphetamine" in Northwest Arkansas, the report said.
"Throughout the investigation, it was identified that Jackson's primary source of methamphetamine was in the central and southern parts of the state," the report said.
Detectives with the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force reportedly began surveillance on Jackson's residence in Springdale after they received a tip that he was expected to receive a shipment of meth on Aug. 23.
Surveillance of Jackson's home
While detectives were watching Jackson's residence on Friday, they reportedly saw a black Jeep arrive with a license plate tied to the Little Rock area. Jackson briefly spoke to the people in the vehicle, who were later identified as 50-year-old Shawn Williams and 32-year-old Marquesha Young, the report said.
Williams and Young left the area. Jackson shortly followed in one car and his wife, 30-year-old Win Sin, left in a separate car. The report said Sin's and Jackson's vehicles traveled in tandem to a storage unit on Randall Wobbe Lane in Springdale.
Jackson was allegedly inside one unit for around two to three minutes. The report said detectives saw him leave with a bag and a white box.
The vehicles traveled back to Jackson's residence, documents say. The Jeep containing Young and Williams also returned to the home.
Detectives approach the suspects
Williams and Young
When detectives approached the residence, the Jeep "fled at a high speed, leaving the roadway and driving through residential yards," the report said. Williams, who was reportedly driving the Jeep, crashed into a ditch. After the crash, Williams and Young fled on foot.
Detectives apprehended Williams and Young and searched the crashed vehicle. In the vehicle, they reportedly found a drug ledger and 488 grams of marijuana. They also followed the path Young ran. From this path, they allegedly recovered a blue backpack containing $5,762 in cash and another bag of around 332 grams of marijuana.
Jackson
At the same time, detectives asked Jackson to exit his vehicle. When he complied, he allegedly threw six hydrocodone pills under the car. He had multiple cell phones and $1,369 on him at the time of his arrest, the report said.
Sin
At Jackson's residence, Sin reportedly permitted detectives to search her vehicle. Detectives found around 4 pounds of meth and 4.71 grams of cocaine, the report said.
Detectives also searched the storage unit on Randall Wobbe Lane and found around 7.5 pounds of marijuana.
Antwain Jackson Jr.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, 24-year-old Antwain Jackson Jr. was arrested in connection with the case on Aug. 25.
In total, FPD said detectives confiscated around 4 pounds of meth, over 7 pounds of marijuana, and two firearms, one of which had been reported stolen.
Suspects booked at the Washington County Jail
Shawn Williams, Antwain Jackson, Marquesha Young, and Win Sin were arrested on Aug. 23. Jackson, Williams, and Young are still being held in the Washington County Jail. Sin has been released.
When Jackson Sr. was questioned at the jail, the report said he initially denied any involvement in distributing meth and he said he was unaware of the drugs found in Sin's car. However, he eventually confessed.
"Jackson explained he sold the methamphetamine for several months at the rate of one to two pounds per week which he purchased for $1,700 per pound," the report said.
He also allegedly admitted to meeting with Young. He said she gave him a bag containing meth, which he put in Sin's car, and he gave Young a bag of marijuana in return.
