Fourth man pleads not guilty in connection to deadly Lake Fayetteville shooting

During a hearing on May 8, Garcia pleaded not guilty to all charges and received a trial date for Sept. 16.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A fourth person has pleaded not guilty in connection to a February shooting at Lake Fayetteville that left 18-year-old Christian Alexander Rodriguez-Barroso dead.

Pablo Garcia, 20, of Lowell, was arrested on April 10. He's accused of hindering apprehension or prosecution and tampering with physical evidence, according to a police report.

His booking in the Washington County Jail also includes counts of theft by receiving, careless driving, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.

During a hearing on May 8, Garcia pleaded not guilty to all charges and received a trial date for Sept. 16.

On the night of Feb. 15, officers were dispatched to Lake Fayetteville and found Rodriguez-Barroso dead and four others injured with gunshot wounds, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

In a video of the shooting, a large number of cars and people gathering near the lake for a fight can be seen. Police said that at some point during the fight, people can be seen running away to their cars as guns are fired.

A preliminary report says that Garcia was interviewed by police on Feb. 23 after investigators learned he was with someone else connected to the shooting.

The report says that Garcia lied to investigators and gave false information about the location of the gun potentially used in the murder.

Sgt. Stephen Mauk with the Fayetteville Police Department told 5NEWS that the incident is not gang related, and that he can't say how many more arrests are expected.

Three other arrests have previously been made in this case.

Gilberto Gordillo, 19, was booked into the Washington County Jail on Feb. 21 on one count of capital murder and four counts of attempted murder. He has since pleaded not guilty and has received a trial date of Nov. 4 this year.

Alberto Esteban-Cruz, 21, was arrested on March 15 for attempted murder, terroristic act, and engaging in violent criminal group activity. On April 12, he pleaded not guilty. His trial is set for May 13.

Jose Luis Casillas, 20, of Tontitown, was booked into the Washington County Jail on March 20, according to the arrest report. He is accused of terroristic threatening, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, aggravated assault, and being in concert with two or more people to commit a violent crime. He pleaded not guilty in April and his trial is set for July 15.
