FORT SMITH, Ark. — A Dollar General clerk in Fort Smith has reportedly been injured after an attempted robbery incident.
According to the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD), the incident occurred on Dec. 15 at the 1701 Grand Ave.
Two subjects, at least one of which is armed, are believed to be responsible. No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
A release from FSPD says that the clerk sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
"The safety and security of our community are of utmost importance, and we are committed to resolving this incident swiftly and effectively. Our officers are working to gather evidence and identify the individuals responsible for this crime," the FSPD release said.
In an updated release, FSPD says that the first suspect was described as a black male wearing a distinct red hoodie featuring a bunny with the words "SUPER." This male was described as possibly being in his early twenties.
The second suspect, also a black male, was wearing a distinct black hoodie with a PlayStation logo and is possible in his early twenties.
Police say that they have obtained surveillance images and witness descriptions.
Fort Smith Public Schools Director of Communication Shari Cooper confirmed to 5NEWS that Tilles Elementary School and Darby Middle School were placed on lockdown per protocol due to their proximity to the incident.
Cooper says that the schools were locked down for around 15 minutes.
