SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Over the next few weeks, the Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, and Bella Vista police departments along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will be working together to bring officers from around the nation to Northwest Arkansas.
"We're gonna go together and try to recruit those that are interested in law enforcement to Northwest Arkansas, and not just individual departments but as a whole collective group," Sgt. Matt Ray with the Springdale Police Department said.
The law enforcement agencies are getting this unique mission started right away.
"We're going down to Fort Worth, Texas, and ... at the end of the week on Friday, we're also going out to Los Angeles, California," Ray said.
This will give these agencies a chance to reach out to people who might not know about the Northwest Arkansas area.
"[It] should bring in quality candidates for us from outside the area," Ray said. "We're always accepting quality candidates inside [the area], but this gives us the opportunity to reach out a little bit further."
Ray says he's looking forward to promoting his home.
"It's just a very unique way that we have come together as Northwest Arkansas agencies to go out and not just promote our own departments but promote the area, a place where the majority of us have grown up from childhood on up to adults or we've, you know, moved into the area," he said. "So I'm looking forward to the experience and hopefully it's very successful, and we can get some good new brothers and sisters in law enforcement."
As of March 18, there are 45 openings throughout the six Northwest Arkansas law enforcement agencies.
