FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An Arkansas man has been arrested after a human trafficking sting at a motel in Fayetteville, when the suspect allegedly dropped off a woman for paid sex.
32-year-old Darian Jones was booked into the Washington County Detention Center after being arrested by Arkansas State Police (ASP) on June 25 on one count of human trafficking for commercial sex acts.
An affidavit says that an officer was reviewing online prostitution ads and saw one that showed a woman who appeared to be a possible trafficking victim.
The officer called the number on the ad and arranged a meet at Motel 6 in Fayetteville, according to the affidavit. A man later identified as Jones was seen dropping off the victim at around 3:30 p.m., and she entered the prearranged motel room while Jones left.
The affidavit says that the woman entered the motel room and told police, who were waiting for her, that she didn't want help and was dropped off by a ride-sharing service.
Jones was stopped by police a short time later on North College Avenue. After officers say the could smell marijuana, his car was searched, where police found a black sock containing pills that field-tested positive for cocaine, according to the affidavit.
Jones was interviewed by police and said he took his friend to get food and dropped her off somewhere else afterward. The suspect denied answering further questions, the affidavit said.
Jones is being held on a $50,000 bond and has a court hearing on July 15 in Washington County.
