SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Charges have been dropped for a Blytheville man that was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail for human trafficking on Jan. 23.

The man was accused of human trafficking, terroristic threatening, two counts of aggravated assault, and false imprisonment.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to the Extended Stay in Springdale to investigate a domestic disturbance on Jan. 23 around 4 a.m.

Police say a woman had called and told the Springdale Police Department (SPD) that she was trying to get away from the man, who allegedly tried to hit her.

The woman told police the man "got upset with her and choked her" the previous day, on Jan. 22. According to the affidavit, the woman alleges that the man said he was going to kill her during the altercation.

Later that same day, the man told the woman "He had set up some meetings for her to have sex with men for money," the affidavit says. When the woman refused, the man allegedly became angry and threatened to tie her up and "beat her until he could not beat her anymore." The woman told police he started shoving her during this interaction.

On Jan. 20, the woman said the man invited someone to the hotel room for her to have sex with him for money. She said she hid in the bathroom until the man left.

During their time at the hotel, the police report said the man made the woman not wear any clothes, making her unable to leave the room.

According to court documents filed in April 2024, charges were dropped, and the case was closed.
