Man found guilty of capital murder in Johnson County

Oliger is facing the death penalty after he was found guilty of the aggravated robbery and capital murder of Deanna Teague almost two years ago.

LAMAR, Ark. — A man is facing the possibility of the death penalty after a jury has found him guilty of the robbery and capital murder of a Lamar woman in December 2021.

The Lamar Police Department (LPD) says they found the body of Deanna Teague at a home on Quarry Street in late 2021, and after enlisting the help of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO), and Arkansas State Police (ASP), Chris Oliger, was found at a home in the Spadra area and taken into custody.

At the end of Oliger's trial in November 2023, he was found guilty of three charges:

  • Capital Murder
  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Theft of Property
