Malvern shooting suspect dead after high-speed chase with Arkansas State Police

Arkansas State Police have now confirmed that the suspect of a shooting in Malvern is now dead following a manhunt and high-speed chase on Friday.

MALVERN, Ark. — Update: The suspect who was fatally shot following a high-speed chase with ASP on Nov. 22 has been identified as 42-year-old Eddie Williams.

Arkansas State Police (ASP) have confirmed that the suspect of a shooting in Malvern is now dead. 

According to ASP, the suspect died after allegedly leading troopers on a pursuit. Authorities said that they had to use a TVI, also known as a PIT maneuver, on the suspect's vehicle. 

Police said that the suspect was driving a 2016 GMC Acadia and was traveling east on Moline Street. Authorities said they attempted to pull the man over, but that he instead fled at a "high rate of speed." 

ASP said they followed the man down Martin Luther King Blvd, through a Walgreens parking lot, and onto West Page Avenue before using the PIT maneuver on the man's car at the intersection of West Page and Vine Street. 

After the suspect's vehicle was crashed into a utility, police said that the suspect apparently exited the vehicle and began firing at troopers with an AR-style rifle. Police returned fire, which led to the suspect being fatally shot. 

This comes after authorities are began investigating a shooting that happened in Hot Spring County on Friday. 

According to reports, the shooting took place at a "business at Locust Street and West." 

County Judge Dennis Thornton said that a person was shot in the arm during the incident, and that the individual fled into the collector's office of the Hot Spring County Courthouse. 

As a result, the courthouse was put under lockdown and it's set to reopen on Monday, according to Judge Thornton.

Thornton said that the person shot during the incident was taken to the hospital. Police have since confirmed that the victim has non life threatening injuries. 

There's no reports of other victims from the incident. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
