SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Springdale officers had to perform life-saving measures on a 14-year-old who was shot on Monday morning, according to police.
SPD said officers were dispatched to Memory Lane at 1 a.m. on Jan. 1 after a gunshot was reported and found the 14-year-old with a gunshot wound.
The teenager was taken to the hospital and their status isn't known at this time.
A 17-year-old suspect was "quickly identified and placed under arrest without incident on scene," SPD said.
After investigating the crime scene and conducting interviews, SPD says the shooting appears to be accidental and the suspect was arrested for battery and possession of a handgun by a minor.
"This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time," SPD said.
